Collabo with @sean_duffell and the @blenheimbusiness Association, highlighting the critical conservation work of the @_mfct_ Marlborough Falcon Conservation Trust. Their head handler Diana Dobson just recently received a Queens Service Medal for over a decade of voluntary work, not only breeding and releasing juvenile Kārearea, but also rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-releasing injured ones from the wild aswell. As was the case with this particular Kārearea we painted in the mural, called Kowhai. She was found in critical condition unable to fly with with broken bones, but thanks to Diana and the MFCT she was nursed back to health and set free to fly again!
It was huge honor to meet these majestic birds and photograph them up close. Honestly I'm a little obsessed with them now, they're NZs swiftest bird, and even rarer than Kiwis!
